A 44-year-old man has been taken to hospital after police cordoned off a street in Edinburgh.

The man was found injured on Drum Brae Drive around 9.45am this morning Tuesday 13 January 2026.

The incident sparked a huge response with numerous police vehicles and around a dozen officers – including armed response – at the scene.

The victim was taken to the city’s Royal Infirmary for treatment, while officers closed the street to facilitate their investigation.

Buses were also diverted from the area while the street was cordoned off

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 9.45 am on Tuesday, 13 January, we received a report of a man injured in the Drum Brae Drive area of Edinburgh.

“Emergency services attended and a 44-year-old man was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment.

“Officers are in attendance and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
