Celtic are “very disappointed” at the outcome of their appeal over the red shown to American defender, Auston Trusty, during Sunday’s 2-2 draw with William Hill Premiership pace-setters, Heart of Midlothian, at Tynecastle.
A statement posted on the Parkhead club’s website said: “We await the written judgement, but will be ensuring further discussions with the Scottish Football Association (SFA) on the matter as we seek to understand the rationale for this and other decisions.”
Celtic say it is “difficult to see” how the original yellow card decision is a clear and obvious error and the club claim VAR’s intervention was not consistent with the rules.
Trusty now misses Sunday’s visit by Falkirk (15.00) through suspension after he tangled with Hearts frontman, Pierre Landry Kabore, with The Hoops leading 2-1.
He was originally shown a yellow card by match referee, Steven McLean, but VAR advised the official to go to the itch-side monitor, believing that Trusty had denied the Tynecastle man a goalscoring opportunity.
