Six players from Eastern Premiership clubs have been included in a 15 strong Scotland men’s cricket squad who head off later this week to India and the world T20 championship.
Entry follows a dramatic late inclusion at the weekend when Bangladesh were expelled for refusing to play in India due to political tensions between the countries. As the highest ranked non qualifiers Scotland were invited to take part in a group featuring West Indies, Nepal, England and Italy (from which two teams will progress).
Richie Berrington will captain a squad with four East clubs represented; Mark Watt and Matthew Cross travel from Heriots, Olly Davidson is the representative of Carlton, Brandon McMullan and George Munsey fly the flag for RH Corstorphine and Finlay McCreath is from Grange.
Two more players, Jack Jarvis and Jasper Davidson from the Raeburn Place club, travel as reserves.
Zainullah Ihsan is the sole first-time callup, with the Afghan-born fast bowler having recently qualified to play for Scotlan
