Matt Currie is set to make his return to Edinburgh Rugby this Sunday after a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Edinburgh face Castres this Sunday in the second round of the Champions Cup. They will be attempting to back up their 33-20 win against Toulon last Sunday. Edinburgh do not regard this weekend as a step down or any less pressure than last week as forwards coach Steve Lawrie commented.

“The brass band’s going to be going, there’s going to be flares going off. It’s awesome and the boys are aware of the challenge. They know the size of the pack that Castres have got, and they know the areas that we need to exploit.”

You can expect Everitt to send a very different looking squad to France with injuries and resting players for the 1872 Cup later in the month. One big difference will be the return of centre Matt Currie who will return for his first game this season after being diagnosed with vertigo before the season began. Currie will try to shake off the rust after not playing since the end of last season and missing Scotland’s summer tour with a hamstring injury.

Ospreys man of the match Findlay Thomson, who was ruled out just before kick off on Sunday, has a confirmed injury in a ligament in his thumb. The injury comes at a frustrating time for the young centre after his impressive performance against the Ospreys two weeks ago.

Harry Paterson is also unavailable this week after picking up a hamstring injury. Paterson is another affected by injury and timing, possibly worst affected of all.
