There is just a week to go until the first Scottish Women’s Well-being Summit which takes place at the Old Course Hotel in St Andrews, and organiser, Lesley Canis, has outlined how a virtual ticket will allow anyone to get involved in the event.
The virtual attendance ticket costs £75 and will enable women to view all the keynotes of the day, including eight speeches by the Summit’s inspirational female speakers.
Lesley said: “I know that women have many demands on their time nowadays. I don’t want anybody to miss out on what could be a life changing event. We have female representatives attending from the NHS, from local Government, and from the Women’s Scottish Football Association, so it’s a real gathering of leadership. Attending in person means you can take part in the networking and wellness experiences which are part of this unique summit.
“But if you really can’t get along to St Andrews in person, it’s easy to access the virtual ticket. Simply select it from the website shop, https://swwsummit.co.uk/ and you’ll receive a live link on the day with access to the speeches by leading female campaigners and achievers. You’ll get a real flavour for what we are trying to achieve at this event.”
Kate Muir, a Scottish writer, women’s health campaigner, and documentary maker is one of the speakers and is joined by Dr Debora Kayembe, who was the first Black woman elected Rector of the University of Edinburgh in 2021, Elizabeth Spencer, a social entrepreneur, Oxford alumna, and domestic abuse survivor whose flagship initiative, Threads of Change, blends circular fashion with trauma-aware peer support, and Lee Donald, an Everest Summiteer and Fitness Entrepreneur.
Sharon Miller, a multi award winning wellness pioneer, and Founder of Joyworks, will also address the summit, and also Dr. Heather Currie MBE, Scottish National Clinical Lead for modernising gynaecology outpatients. Other speakers taking to the stage include Councillor Sally Pattle who represents the Linlithgow Ward on West Lothian Council for the Scottish Liberal Democrats, and Dr Jo Salter, Britain’s first female Fighter Jet Pilot, who will take to the stage in what is sure to be another absorbing presentation.
Lesley said: “These women are real movers and shakers that don’t just want words, they want action.
“As the days countdown to 200 women delegates gathering together, I wanted to make this last plea to women everywhere not to miss out on this opportunity to get on board with the summit. Nothing quite like this has ever been done before.”
“If the summit goes well, and I’m confident it will, we may well make this an annual event in Scotland putting ourselves on the map as a nation that really cares about women’s well-being in the workplace, and also in the best provision of healthcare for issues such as pregnancy and menopause.
“I’m sure that after the summit has taken place, many other women will join me in saying enough is enough, and we need to put our own needs forefront in the workplace.”
Prices start from £199 for a delegate day ticket, which grants access to the full event from 7am to 5:30pm on Saturday 15th November. Included are all wellbeing activities, keynotes, workshops, networking opportunities, and access to the exciting exhibitor and demonstration zone.
Delegates will also enjoy unlimited refreshments throughout the day, a delicious lunch in The Sands Private Restaurant, and receive a personalised journal, together with a beautifully curated gift bag. They can register for the Summit from 8.30 am, with early morning activities available (must be pre booked).
Overnight delegates may attend the summit’s Leadership Dinner and Champagne Reception, on the Saturday evening which will feature entertainment, and the ticket also includes full spa and leisure centre access.
An added bonus of staying overnight is the chance to take part in an immersive sea dip on St Andrews West Sands, and try a fire walking experience during the weekend.
