Leith will come alive with creativity next week as Edinburgh Open Workshop coordinates the return of the Leith Creative Trail.

The event is a celebration of Leith’s artistic spirit, featuring markets, open studios, exhibitions, workshops, talks, and pop-up events across the neighbourhood.

From 29 November to 7 December, visitors can explore a trail of more than 20 creative venues. These include hidden studios to local institutions, each brimming with imagination, skill, and community energy. The Leith Creative Trail brings together artists, makers, and creative businesses to showcase the rich cultural tapestry that makes Leith one of Scotland’s most exciting creative hubs.

Julie Colman, Community Outreach Officer at Edinburgh Open Workshop said: “The Leith Creative Trail is about connecting people and places,” said . “It’s a chance to celebrate the incredible diversity and creativity that thrive in Leith – and to discover something new around every corner.”

The Trail offers the perfect alternative to the bustle of high street shopping. Step off the beaten path and discover unique, handmade gifts created by Leith’s talented community of artists and makers. The range of goods on offer includes ceramics, textiles and prints to jewellery, homewares and one-of-a-kind artworks. Whether you’re hunting for the perfect stocking filler or a meaningful keepsake, shopping local on the Leith Creative Trail means supporting independent businesses and finding gifts with real heart and story behind them.

Whether you’re a local, an art lover, or simply curious, the Trail offers the perfect opportunity to wander, explore, and support Leith’s creative community. Visitors are encouraged to visit as many venues as possible to meet artists, browse through handmade goods, and enjoy the buzz of the week-long celebration.

There is a beautifully illustrated map and directory – designed by Cat Gordon Illustrations and Zoe Brown Art which highlights all venues taking part. These are available in print from venues along the trail, or can be downloaded from the Edinburgh Open Workshop website.
