Auld Reekie Roller Derby’s All Stars, currently ranked 23 in Europe, will bring the curtain down on 2025 against main rivals Dublin Roller Derby Mighty Dubs at Dalkeith Community Campus on Saturday (2.30pm).
There have been a string of close match ups between the pair over the last few years with Dublin taking the win in all but one game since 2016.
However, Auld Reekie coach Lianne ‘Legs’ Little insists the team can reverse recent outcomes.
“This season has seen our All Stars team really level up, fuelled with a combination of elite National Squad training, the intensity of World Cup competition, and high-stakes match-ups against powerhouse teams at top-tier tournaments in Vienna and Sweden.
“Our All Stars always rise to every challenge, and we’re seeing a sharper, faster, more determined squad than ever before – I can’t wait to see how they play on Saturday.”
Auld Reekie’s freshly re-launched C-Team will start the event with a tough game against Granite City Roller Derby’s Fight Hawks, from Aberdeen.
The main event gets underway at 5pm.
‘Peach Melba’ Captain of the C-Team says, “Being a part of the C team has been so much fun and the best 7part of my roller derby journey so far. It truly is a group of incredible people and a place where newer skaters have had the chance to grow and develop together into a strong, cohesive unit. I have made friends for life here and the team has a real sense of community and heart.”
There will be halftime entertainment, a market stall area, refreshments, games and burritos.
Organisers are appealing for fans to bring cash as internet signals within the hall can be erratic.
