Following an incident on 6 October 2025 when a masked gang were filmed trying to cut a bike off a rack with an angle grinder in St Andrew Square, officers have made a number of arrests.
The incident gained national attention online and following extensive enquiries, five males, aged between 16 and 19, have now been cautioned and charged with attempted theft.
The teenagers will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal.
In a separate investigation, a male wanted in connection with attempted fraud, whose image was circulated on social media, has now been traced, arrested and charged, thanks to the help of the public.
