The annual Christmas lunch is back this year with a full festive calendar.
Hundreds of residents from local care homes and community groups will enjoy a free three-course Christmas lunch this December.
The traditional lunch takes place on Giving Tuesday, 2 December, marking one of the most popular community events of the season.
The Venue at Eskmills will once again open its doors to host the celebration, made possible thanks to generous catering from Saltire Hospitality, Really Delicious and Jo’s Kitchen, alongside DJ Matt Gall from Capital Sound Collective and support from local businesses who will donate raffle prizes.
Staff and volunteers from Eskmills, The Venue and nearby organisations will be on hand to serve guests and create a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
Owner of The Venue, Oliver Stephen, said: “This is one of the most important dates in our calendar. It’s about bringing people together, celebrating the season and making sure older residents feel connected and cared for. It’s always a special day.”
Programme of events
A packed winter programme is on offer as well as the Giving Tuesday lunch, with a series of Christmas party nights, a traditional St Andrew’s Day ceilidh, and a Hogmanay celebration when everyone is invited to see in the New Year in style.
The Musselburgh venue, known for its stunning Victorian architecture and large-capacity space, has confirmed it will run four Christmas party nights on 5, 6, 12 and 13 December.
On each evening the ticket price will include a welcome drink, a three-course festive dinner provided by Really Delicious, and a live DJ with dancing until late. Tickets are priced at £60 per person (£20 deposit required).
The celebrations begin even earlier this year with a St Andrew’s Day Ceilidh on Saturday 29 November, hosted by live ceilidh band The Klones. The ceilidh will feature traditional dancing, a welcome drink and a hot fork buffet of haggis, neeps and tatties served by Saltire Hospitality. Tickets are £25 per person. The event is open to all ages.
To close the season, The Venue will also host a Hogmanay party on 31 December, featuring a DJ and live band, fizz at the bells and a specially designed New Year’s Eve supper.
Guests will enjoy a three-course dinner by Really Delicious, welcome and midnight drinks, and hot-filled rolls after midnight to keep the dancing going into the early hours. Tickets are £65 for early bird bookings until 15 October, rising to £70 thereafter, with a £20 deposit required.
Oliver added: “We wanted to do more than simply reopen. This is about restoring confidence and offering events that feel true to what Eskmills can deliver, warm, well-run and full of character.”
With space for up to 350 guests, landscaped surroundings and excellent transport links, it has hosted everything from weddings to community gatherings.
Now under new ownership, the venue is broadening its events programme with a stronger focus on public celebrations, sustainability and partnerships with local suppliers.
Eskmills itself is East Lothian’s largest business destination, home to more than 100 organisations and a range of amenities including a café, bakery, gym, and award-winning bistro.
