Fife Flyers recorded their second straight home win by edging Belfast Giants, the league and cup holders, at The Fife Ice Arena and thanks to ice cool Keaton Jamieson.
He stepped-up in the shootout to net after the sides were locked at 3-3 at the final whistle and after sudden death overtime in front of nearly 2,000 fans.
Fife had earlier battled back from 3-1 down. Mike Lee opened the scoring after 13min 17sec for the visitors and it became 2-0 when former Flyers player, Sam Jones, scored with 22min 57sec on the clock.
Mason Alderson scored unassisted to lift home fans after 32min 16sec but Giants struck again after 45min 37sec through Jake Gaudet for 3-1.
Johan Porsberger gave home fans hope with Flyers’ second after 52min 35sec and Ian Scheid levelled with 3min 30sec remaining to send the game into overtime. Ethan Samoza set up the chance.
Fife prevailed despite being outshot 37-29 by the visitors who also won 34 of the face-offs. Fife won 24 during the game in which the home side totalled 15 penalty minutes and Belfast seven.
