Stuart Findlay is determined to send Hearts’ fans home happy by earning a result in Sunday’s top-of-the-table clash with champions Celtic at Tynecastle (kick-off noon).
The 30-year-old defender, who is on loan from English side, Oxford United, says players look forward to games like this and victory over The Bhoys would take the Gorgie men eight points clear at the summit of the 12-strong William Hill Premiership table.
And the former Kilmarnock defender (pictured right in training by Nigel Duncan) added: “It is going to be a momentous occasion and I have heard that it is sold out. That is not a surprise as our fans have been absolutely outstanding.
“Both teams deserve to have this game as both teams are at the top of the table at the moment.”
“I don’t think in the history of Hearts at Tynecastle they have gone into a game and not expected to win. Obviously, there is a lot of talk about this and it is a league game against a club which has been the best team in the country in terms of results.
“If we go in at our very best there is no reason to believe that we can’t get a result.”
He added: “Our league position at the moment is really, really positive. We’ve won seven out of eight games in the league. We’ve got a strong changing room and we’re focused on what we have to do.”
Looking back at his summer move, the player said: “I went into this club knowing what the gaffer (Derek Mcinnes) can do, knowing what he’d done at Killie, and it has been better than I every imagined, it has been a fantastic start.
“Celtic are not exactly in dire straits, they have dropped points in three games this season. We know this is going to be, by far, the toughest test we have had in the league. We have to go into the game focused on what we are going to do. Hopefully, it we execute our game plan we can get a result.”
