A Scottish entrepreneur has been named Operations Director of the Year at the prestigious Institute of Directors (IoD) Scotland Awards 2025 – marking a career milestone in financial services and technology.
Alison Welsh, Co-founder of Tweed Wealth Management and a driving force behind fintech disrupter Behavioural Finance, was honoured with the coveted national accolade during a ceremony held in Crowne Plaza in Glasgow.
The recognition comes after a transformative 12 months in which Alison led operations for both firms – from overseeing exponential growth at a leading wealth management business, to launching a tech platform now reshaping compliance workflows for advisers.
Under her stewardship, Tweed Wealth Management has expanded to five locations across the UK and manages over £600 million in client assets. This growth has been fuelled by a strategic focus on delivering exceptional outcomes, pursuing smart acquisitions, and embedding innovative tech solutions.
Alison said: “To be named Operations Director of the Year is an immense honour – and a recognition of the outstanding work delivered by the teams at both Tweed Wealth Management and Behavioural Finance.
“Strong operations are the backbone of sustainable business growth. They often go unnoticed, but they are the difference between surviving and thriving in highly regulated industries like ours.”
The IoD Scotland Director of the Year Awards shine a light on leaders making a tangible difference in the Scottish economy. Spanning sectors from engineering to education, the annual ceremony celebrates vision, resilience, and strategic brilliance across the boardroom.
Tweed Wealth Management, which marked its 10th anniversary last year, continues to post record performance and is currently recruiting across multiple departments as part of its national expansion.
Meanwhile, Behavioural Finance has commenced a major talent drive, aiming to create up to 50 new roles, with a strong focus on sourcing talent in and around Edinburgh.
