Livingston manager, David Martindale, eyed the trip to Aberdeen on Saturday (15.00) and declared: “We will put ourselves under pressure to win that game of football.”
The Lions boss has a clean bill of health for the trip north and he has enjoyed a number of good training sessions with the players during the international break, imparting knowledge about how he wants to play.
Livingston are training with more than 20 players most days and Martindale feels it is massively important to have a big squad given the speed and physicality of the game in the William Hill Premiership.
If everyone who was currently injured was available, Martindale believes he has the best squad he has ever had at The Home of the Set Fare Arena. He felt the squad strength was good last year, but it was a Championship squad. This is a step-up.
Looking to the trip to the Granite City, Martindale said: “They (Aberdeen) have signed well in the summer, but they have reinforced that late on in the window with what looks like, on paper, four very good signings. They are all starting players.
“I am not really bothered about Aberdeen’s run of form, who they have signed, the pressure on us is to pick up three points. I am just solely focused on Livingston.”
The straight-talking boss said: “We are expecting to go to Aberdeen and win a game of football. We will put internal pressures on ourselves and there will be pressure on us as a group to try to win that game of football.”
