Edinburgh Accies rugby club have put in place an entirely new coaching team under Director of Rugby Graham Bonner – and on the evidence of the opening weekend of Arnold Clark National League Division One action it appears to be paying dividends.

Accies announced themselves in a league to which they were relegated last season – the goal is an immediate bounce back to Premiership level – with a 43-7 win Over Gala.

It could be that a tougher test awaits this weekend though when they travel to face Glasgow Accies who were 67-17 victors at Gordonians last Saturday.

Meetings between the pair started 153 years ago when a 0-0 draw ensued!

Assisting interim head coach Bonner are Simon Berghan, Charlie Shiel and Jamie Sole who has also returned to the playing ranks.

Heading up the 2nd XV coaching is George Hamilton.

Despite relegation Accies have retained almost all of their squad and have recruited the likes of Sam Hynes from Brothers in Brisbane as well as Luca Musat, a Romanian internationalist from Edinburgh University.

Captaining the 1st XV will be stand off Jamie Loomes with second row Struan Whittaker vice captain.
