Former Hibs loanee Nectar Triantis has joined Minnesota United for an undisclosed fee from his parent club Sunderland.
The 22-year-old moves to Major League Soccer following two years on Wearside, during which time he made five senior appearances in all competitions.
Triantis’ time at the Club was predominantly spent on loan in the Scottish Premiership, where he featured for Hibs on more than 40 occasions during two successful spells at Easter Road.
Hibs fans have been hoping that the midfielder would return to Easter Road either on loan or on a permanent deal. Reports suggested that Hibs were prepared to break their transfer record to secure his signature but it was not to be.
Sunderland boss Kristjaan Speakman said: “Nectar’s experienced regular first-team football throughout the past 18 months and improved significantly. He understands the value of continuing to play regularly at a senior level, and in Minnesota United, he’s joining an interesting project in a new country.
“Now, it’s up to Nectar to once again take the opportunity ahead of him and progress, and we all wish him well in the next chapter of his career.”
