The Cowgate is currently closed from Blackfriars Street to the Pleasance.
Emergency services are at the scene of an incident involving an injured person.
The call was around 2pm on Monday, 25 August.
Officers are advising the public and road users are advised to avoid the area.
A police spokesperson said: “Cowgate is closed from Blackfriars Street to the Pleasance following the report of a person injured received around 2pm on Monday, 25 August.
“Emergency services are in attendance and the public and road users are advised to avoid the area.”

“The man was taken to hospital for treatment and enquiries are ongoing.”
