Another day at the LTA summer county cup and another win double for the high flying East of Scotland men’s and women’s tennis teams.
Competing in group four at Cheltenham to which they earned promotion last year the women went into a top-of-the-table clash with Warwickshire on the back of a third successive win.
This time the opposition were North Wales and it took a couple of third round wins – by Hanna Augustynska partnering fellow teenager Aadya Iyer Chadalawada and Shaylin Holt alongside Sarah McFadyen – to clinch the 5-4 victory.
The arrival of former captain Alan Macdonald to bolster the squad after missing the first two days appeared to galvanise the East men in group one at Eastbourne.
They overcame Northamptonshire 6-3 in a match over after two rounds and which allowed the East to give a run out to Rhys Watters and Jamie Hunter for the final round.
Double winners for East, who were today taking on North of Scotland, were James MacKinlay/Lance Nisbet; Scott Duncan/Euan McIntosh; Sam McNeil/Alan Macdonald.
