One lucky buyer in a vast new West Lothian housing development will get a new home with a double car garage thanks to a change of plans.
It will be the only one on the Cala Homes site within the Bangour village development after it won permission to add extra space.
At its monthly meeting West Lothian Council’s Development Management Committee (DMC) nodded through the change of style to one home among the around 100 being built by Cala at Bangour .
A report to the DMC said: “The house originally approved on the site (house type Cairn) is a 4-bed detached property with an integrated single garage.
“The house now proposed has a double integral garage with four bedrooms and a small home office. The footprint is slightly larger but comfortably accommodated within the plot.”
The house with the double garage occupies a generous corner plot on the Cala site.
Cala is just one of several house builders working on the former hospital grounds. The huge housing development which will eventually see almost 1,000 new homes including flats within converted listed former hospital buildings.
A new primary school to serve the area including neighbouring Dechmont village, and shopping is also planned.
The report to the committee added: “The application complies with the development plan and there are no material considerations which would outweigh the development plan presumption.”
Derek Lawson, Strategic Land Director for Cala Homes (East) told the Local Democracy Reporting Service: “We are delighted that West Lothian Council’s Development Management Committee has accepted a minor amendment to our development plan.”
Cala is currently building on new sites across West Lothian; off Langton Road, East Calder, Beatlie Road in Winchburgh and off Charlesfield Road in Livingston.
The company has also built in Linlithgow.
