The 76th Taxi Outing will take place on Tuesday, starting from the car park at Edinburgh Zoo and parading through the city from 10am.

The Rt Hon Lord Provost of Edinburgh judges and presents prizes before the departure with prizes for best float taxi, best balloon taxi, best fancy dress driver and best fancy dress child. The drivers hope to be carrying the Cab Inspector and the Lord Provost as guests as well as the Calcutta Cup.

Police Scotland escort the procession of taxis carrying their precious passengers – children with additional needs, life-limiting conditions or terminal illness – as it makes its way through the city centre out of the city to Archerfield Walled Garden between Gullane and Dirleton in East Lothian. The taxis stop at S.Luca’s in Musselburgh to refill the water pistols and for everyone to eat as much ice cream as they can.

The fun continues at Archerfield until 4pm until the taxis wind their way back to the city and home.
