Robbie Gordon is a theatre-maker born in Prestonpans, specialising in making work with and for communities. He met Jack Nurse at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, graduating in 2016 with the Drama in Education Award.

They are the makers of 549: Scots of the Spanish Civil War, the story of four miners from Prestonpans who fought in the Spanish Civil War and also the writers of Same Team, the story of the Scottish Homeless Women’s World Cup team and their journey to an international tournament, which received critical acclaim.

Together they are co-artistic directors of Wonder Fools who will write and present The Brunton’s pantomime, A Christmas Carol, which will be presented at the Corn Exchange in Haddington and Loretto Theatre in Musselburgh, from Wednesday, December 4 to Saturday, January 4.

Set in East Lothian, the new pantomime will have original songs and is inspired by Charles Dickens’ classic Christmas story.

Robbie said: “The Brunton was one of the first places I ever saw live theatre and it will be a privilege to give a similar magical experience to future generations of theatre goers.

“There is a rich tradition of pantomime in Scotland, and it feels exciting to be tackling one in the region I grew up in. For us, our work is all about creating high quality theatrical experiences that provide a good night out and we can’t wait to bring this story to life.”
