Edinburgh has a number of events planned to commemorate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee ranging from street parties to special events during the holiday weekend. 

The Queen’s Jubilee Afternoon Tea, which will be served at The Register Club on St Andrew Square, will undoubtedly be the grandest of them all. From 1 June to the end of the month, at Cheval The Edinburgh Grand, the offering will be available daily at the landmark hotel’s flagship cocktail lounge.

A feast fit for royalty, The Queen’s Jubilee Afternoon Tea experience will invite guests to dine in the spectacular surroundings of The Register Club and indulge in a range of sweet treats as well as a savory selection using the finest seasonal produce. For an additional cost, you can even toast the Queen’s 70 years on the throne with a glass of Champagne.


The celebratory afternoon teas will begin with a selection of ‘classical’ sandwiches, served in the luxurious surroundings of Cheval The Edinburgh Grand’s fourth floor. Coronation chicken, Duck Egg Mayonnaise, Cucumber, and Smoked Scottish Salmon are among them.

Following that will be a selection of sweet treats such as Chocolate Biscuit Cake, Banana Bread with Chocolate Chips and Ginger, Strawberry Tartlets, and Macaroons. If that isn’t enough, there will be Homemade Scones with Clotted Cream and Strawberry Jam. The Queen’s Jubilee Afternoon Tea costs £32 per person or £42 per person when accompanied by a glass of Champagne.

Cheval The Edinburgh Grand, General Manager, Gavin MacLennan said; “Edinburgh is home to the Queen’s official residence while she is in Scotland and inspired by her love for the city, we have created a Jubilee Afternoon Tea with a regal theme using some of the finest Scottish produce – what better way to raise a toast to Her Majesty.”

Accessed via the soaring lobby of Cheval The Edinburgh Grand, the arrangement of cocktail bar, lounge, games room and snug flows seamlessly, creating a vibe akin to an exclusive members’ club with an evolving atmosphere that effortlessly shifts from day to night. Since it arrived on the scene in 2018, The Register Club has quickly become an unmissable stop on the Edinburgh cocktail scene set in the surroundings of the former Royal Bank of Scotland headquarters.


In addition to the Queen’s Jubilee Afternoon Tea a new look food menu will be available. Guests will enjoy an array of light bites, nibbles, and sharing plates with a Scottish twist. All food on the menu is locally sourced and seasonal. Expect to see Scottish Venison Sausage roll, cherry ketchup, Mini Pork & Haggis Pie and Katai Prawn, Mango & Chili Salsa on the menu. – light bites plates from £6 each; larger plates from £12.
