I have lived in Edinburgh all my life and am both a mum and a grandma. Working within the ward as a Childcare Manager for nearly 25 years has given me an insight into what the local area cares about.

My sons went to Royal Mile Primary School and Canongate Youth Project where I volunteered. My trade union is Unite who have been part of a campaign to stop the closure of local care homes which I have been actively opposing. I am a member of the National Trust and care passionately about preserving our heritage.

Personally I have been out campaigning for the upgrading of Dumbiedykes Play Park, trying to find a more equitable solution to the Community Bin Hubs proposal in the New Town, and better bus services for Old Town residents. I also want to get the cross city cycle route between the Meadows and Canal at the Tollcross end completed.

Party Campaigning to end child poverty is a main issue this election and also community wealth building which is at the heart of providing services, saving in-house care homes and bringing others back under council control. The re-balancing of the effects which tourism has on residents especially in the City Centre has to be addressed.

I think one of ht best things the administration did during these last five years, and principally as a push by the Depute Leader, Cammy Day is the production of the poverty commission report and committing to act on it.

The coalition has built some social housing, but has also worked to defend care homes and make Edinburgh a Fair Wage City.

The most surprising thing about me?
It is probably that I still like and build Lego.
