Hibs’ midfield enforcer Alex Gogic understands why Jack Ross was angry after dropping two points to a late equaliser against Dundee United but now insists that everyone is looking to focus on future games.

The Cypriot international returned to first team action at the weekend after missing several games due to injury and made an instant impact.

He is now ready to be involved against on-form St Mirren in what could be a Betfred Cup final rehearsal.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference at the club’s training centre yesterday, he said: “It was good to get back on the pitch, it’s better than being injured and in the treatment room. I had an ankle injury but now it’s good.

“We don’t see him (Jack Ross) often angry but we fully understand why. We were angry as well because we played really well but didn’t get what we deserved which happens in football and sometimes emotions take over.

“We did have a chat after the game but we are concentrating on the future and games coming up and there is a big game tomorrow for us to get the three points.

“You don’t want to drop points after playing well for the whole game. We had loads of chances to finish the game quite early and to lose a goal late in the 91st minute hurts.

“We have loads of games and they are coming quick so we just have to focus and try and get as many points as we can. It can be hard physically but as a player you just want to play football.”

Qualifying for Europe looks a distinct possibility for this Hibs team who are neck and neck with Aberdeen and Celtic near the top of the table and Gogic believes that a club the size of Hibs should be playing at that level regularly.

He continued: “Every player want to play at some point in Europe and to achieve that would be amazing. As I said when I signed for Hibs, such a team should always be playing in European games.

“We have been playing very good football. Sometimes the results don’t go our way but I think we are ready.”
