Brora Rangers visit the capital tonight for their first competitive game against Hibs.

Rangers are a senior part-time professional football club from the village of Brora in Sutherland, some 50 miles north of Inverness.

Founded in 1879, they joined the Highland League in 1962 and have twice been league winners, firstly in 2013-14 and successfully defended the title in the 2014-15 season.

They were the first club to compete in the SFA progression pyramid for SPFL status in 2015 but narrowly went down 3-2 to Montrose on aggregate.

They have won the North of Scotland FA Cup 7 times, and the Highland League Cup once in 2015-16.

Because of the SPFL rules concerning Covid-19 testing for games against top-flight teams, the Brora Rangers squad and management staff underwent COVID-19 testing on Saturday.

The club received the results back from the lab soon after the tests and have confirmed all players and staff have tested negative.

In an act of generosity, Ross County chairman Roy MacGregor agreed to pay for the testing and Brora Rangers expressed their gratitude.

A statement on the club website reads: “A massive thank you has to go to Roy MacGregor, Steven Ferguson and all the staff at Ross County Football Club, they have shown tremendous professionalism and efficiency in ensuring all tests were carried out correctly.

“The gesture of Ross County covering the cost of testing also is one that is hugely appreciated by everyone at the club.”
