Jack Ross and the Hibs’ players will be tuned into Nicola Sturgeon’s Thursday briefing to see whether permission will be granted for a behind closed door game against St Mirren at the club’s training ground on Saturday.

All Premiership teams were given the green light to resume training last month with a view to resuming competitive action on 1st August with Hibs due to face Kilmarnock at Easter Road.

The Hibs’ squad have been following government guidelines as they prepare for the start of the season and so far no new signing have been announced.

Florian Kamberi has returned to the club following his loan spell with Rangers but there is interest in his services from other sides including Hull City.

Loan signings Marc McNulty, Stephane Omeonga and Greg Docherty have all returned to their parent clubs whilst Vykintas Slivka, Steven Whittaker and Adam Bogdan have left following the expiry of their contracts.

This provides an opportunity for younger players including Ryan Porteous, Fraser Murray, Kevin Dabrowski, Callum Yeats, Innes Murray, Josh Doig, Ryan Shanley and Ben Stirling.

Owner Ron Gordon previously stated that new signing will only be sanctioned after the deferred payments to the current squad are settled.

So far Hibs have been linked with former St Johnstone winger Drey Wright and former Hamilton Academical midfielder Alex Gogic who are both free agents and Dunfermline’s prolific striker Kevin Nisbet.
