You can stay overnight in the newly renovated apartments right next door to the Palace of Holyroodhouse – and live like royalty.

Abbey Strand Apartments at Holyrood have been undergoing complete renovation over the last two years and have now opened their doors to guests.

The nine apartments are in the building just on the left of the Abbey Strand entrance to The Palace of Holyroodhouse, and opposite The Scottish Parliament.

With feature historic fireplaces, historic painted ceiling beams and quirky windows, the apartments also have everything you need for the 21st century. The ground and first floor have been transformed by Royal Collection Trust into a learning centre for schools and adults visiting the palace.

The five star apartments are operated by Lateral City Apartments who already have The Edinburgh Grand and Old Town Chambers in their portfolio.

Gavin MacLennan is General Manager of the award-winning Lateral City Apartments collection. He said:

“It’s fantastic to see the building re-imagined and coming to life again for a new generation of people who love Edinburgh. At Abbey Strand guests can enjoy Edinburgh’s history, its culture and be excited about its future. These walls are steeped in history and have interesting stories to tell. Staying in these apartments will be a completely unique experience.

“We have been working closely with Royal Collection Trust to ensure everything is perfect, from capturing the history and heritage of the building through to the experience of the guests when they arrive. This is a special place and we’re looking forward to sharing its stories with our guests.”

Bookings can be made at www.lateralcity.com and prices start from £199.00 per night.

Former inhabitants include Mary Queen of Scots’ courtiers and essayist Thomas de Quncy.
