The Edinburgh Cup Race Day this Saturday is traditionally an occasion to dress up and to enjoy the thrill of first class turf racing.

The £40,000 Edinburgh Cup is the prime race which has attracted some of the country’s leading trainers. Now the East Lothian track has announced that it has partnered with Walker Slater, the leading tweed jacket, suit and tailoring specialists.

It is a perfect fit for Musselburgh which has a strong association with Harris Tweed, the name of the first winner of the Edinburgh Cup run in 2010 and after which the racecourse bistro is named.

For those racegoers who “Dress to Impress”, they will have a chance to win a Harris Tweed jacket, courtesy of Walker Slater, and admission and lunch for two in the Harris Tweed Bistro at a future 2019 meeting. To be in the frame to win this fantastic prize race goers should look out for the special photo wall and share their pictures on social media with the hashtag #EdinburghCup.

Musselburgh Racecourse marketing manager, Susan Findlay, said: “Edinburgh Cup Day at Musselburgh is a dressy affair and guests make a real effort to stand out from the crowd. For those who go the extra furlong, they can enter our fantastic Walker Slater sponsored competition and be in with a chance to win a Harris Tweed jacket and lunch in our Harris Tweed Bistro at a future meeting.”

Gates open on Saturday at 2pm, the first race is off at 4.05pm although this may be brought forward if an extra race is added, and the last race is at 7.15pm after which the Courtyard Stage gets in to full swing with live music provided by Blondie tribute band Dirty Harry and supported by local bands Chameleon Lady and The Flavours.

All hospitality packages are sold out and with advance tickets sales doing well, Musselburgh is expected a large weekend attendance. To book tickets and for more information please visit www.musselburgh-racecourse.co.uk
