The City of Edinburgh Council’s Depute Leader joined Enterprise Car Club earlier today to mark Pride Edinburgh.

In celebration of Scotland’s LGBTI Festival Councillor Cammy Day sat in the driver’s seat of a specially-wrapped Enterprise Car Club vehicle, featuring the famous Pride colours stretched right over the car’s roof and both the doors. (Don’t worry the keys were not in the ignition!)

This is the fourth year that Enterprise has supported Pride Edinburgh, and this year they have two wrapped vehicles as part of Edinburgh’s 190-strong Enterprise Car Club fleet

Enterprise Car Club allows motorists to hire and pick up a car or a van directly on the street on a pay as you go basis 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Their fleet ranges from small city cars and larger estates to seven-seater cars, vans and electric vehicles.

Vehicles can be booked automatically with the app and members can join and be on the road within a matter of hours. Membership costs from £2 a month and vehicles are available from £4.50 per hour.

Featuring the latest fuel-efficient and electric technology, Enterprise Car Club has helped The City of Edinburgh Council reduce emissions and congestion while providing an option for residents who need to use a car from time to time. The Council is committed to encouraging residents to make use of Enterprise Car Club and provides two hours of free parking for Enterprise Car Club vehicles in the city.

The vehicles can also be rented by car club members arriving from other locations and needing a vehicle for trips around Edinburgh.

Councillor Day said: “I’m delighted to join Enterprise as they fly the flag for Pride Edinburgh. This is a very visual symbol of their support and a sentiment that we wholeheartedly share in – we are proud to be a LGBT+ friendly Council and welcome all members of society to the Capital.”

Enterprise Area Manager Tina Dragneva said: “Pride is celebrated by Enterprise across the world and we are very excited to once again be supporting Pride Edinburgh and to have cars specially-wrapped with the rainbow colours. We hope lots of people will see the two Pride cars as they are used around the city, across Lothian and beyond.”

Pride Edinburgh is Scotland’s National LGBTI Festival and this year celebrates 22 years since Pride began in Scotland. A march for Pride Edinburgh will take place on 22 June, along with a community-festival celebrating diversity.
