A holiday home at Pettycur Bay has never been so popular – popular holiday park says lets make most of a holiday ownership boom

As it enters its 2019 Summer Season, Pettycur Bay Holiday Park at Kinghorn in Fife has announced that it has its widest ever selection of both pre owned and brand new luxury caravan holiday homes for sale, from industry leading manufacturers such as Willerby, Atlas and Victory. Prices for brand new models are from around £18,000 to £71,000,with pre owned models starting at just £4,000.

The park has a full twelve month holiday season, so purchasers can come and stay anytime of the year, enjoying the many on site facilities, such as the 80 seater Horizons Restaurant,  serving lunches, dinners, and offering a la carte dining; the swimming pool, sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi; the children’s paddling pool and soft play area; the Waterfront lounge bar; fitness suite and snooker and pool tables. There is also Images function suite, which offers a host of entertainment shows, and has recently been refurbished to offer state of the art equipment.  Guests can also take advantage of the laundry room and there is an on-site shop for essentials.

The holiday park includes a campsite with facilities for touring caravans, motor homes and tents.

“We started off as a caravan park with good on site facilities, then adding The Bay Hotel to the mix,” said Alan Wallace, who owns the complex with his father Thomas and brother Tommy. “We quickly realised that the location was so fantastic and a year round pull, that customers would want to consider owning a holiday home here, and we started offering luxury caravan holiday homes for purchase,” said Alan.

“It has become even more popular in the last few years, with buyers keen to invest their money in holiday homes in proven locations,” he added.

Alan outlined that the term “caravan” was perhaps misleading, in that the type of static holiday home Pettycur sells is a contemporary and sophisticated product that is far removed from some people’s idea of a mobile caravan.

“Many of our top end caravan holiday homes are extremely spacious and more like lodge style properties,” he said. “They have high vaulted asymmetric ceilings and atrium style floor to ceiling windows to provide a wonderful sense of space and light. The kitchens are complete with integrated high level oven and grill; separate hob; fridge freezer and breakfast bar with stools. There is even an en suite bath or shower room off the master bedroom. They also have a wall mounted TV and an attractive fire in the lounge…. altogether a real home from home!”

On purchase, the holiday homes are supplied fully furnished with three piece suites and modern feature fireplaces.

Likewise, Pettycur uses a similarly high standard of caravan holiday home in its lettings portfolio with four, five and five star plus ratings available, sleeping up to six people.

Tommy Wallace has been instrumental in giving many of the caravan holiday homes a sleek makeover to mirror the chic interiors of the bedrooms in the Bay Hotel.

He said: “We have had clients say that they don’t really feel that they are in a caravan.  Today caravan accommodation has upped its game considerably and we want to be at the forefront of that – we believe our five star executive caravan holiday homes are unsurpassed.”

“We believe in these products, so whether it’s for lettings or for purchase, we want to ensure we are offering the very best in the industry. No lettings property is ever more than three years old here on the estate,” said Tommy.

Alan, Tommy, and their father Thomas, have been involved in the running of Pettycur Leisure Complex business for over 30 years. Alan’s son and daughter Steven and Amy are now also now involved in Pettycur, making them the third generation Wallaces’ to put their imprints onto the business.

The Bay Hotel, added in 2008, is a 28 bedroom 3 star hotel, which has several function suites with panoramic sea views. All of the bedrooms are en-suite with a number of south facing Suites for families of up to six people. Extremely popular are the split level rooms with their balconies and river views. The bedrooms at the Bay Hotel are fitted with state of the art intelligent, energy efficient lighting; air conditioning and have wireless broadband internet access. Each bedroom contains a 32” flat panel digital satellite TV; a mini fridge and has Movies on Demand.

Several rooms offer disabled access facilities and travel cost are available on request.

As well as giving the business many more options for accommodation, it has enabled the business to tap into business travel and conferences market, as well as weddings and short breaks. The hotel now hosts around 60 weddings a year.

Pettycur is open year round to everyone, not just residents and indeed is well used by the local community for meals out, for the entertainments shows, for parties and celebrations and as somewhere to meet for lunch or a coffee, especially for those with young families and the retired.

The company also operate two additional caravan parks at Kinghorn Harbour and Leven Beach.
