Division One (men): Grange 3, Edinburgh University 2 (at Fettes College)

Dan Coultas claimed two penalty corner goals as defending champions Grange took another significant step towards a second successive league title.

Alan Johnston netted the other goal in a narrow 3-2 victory over in-form Capital rivals Edinburgh University, but the students gave Grange a real scare with a late surge.

The game looked over after Grange netted their third goal courtesy of Coultas three minutes into the second period.

Earlier, Johnston opened the scoring after ten minutes, deflecting the ball home after good play down the right.

The second arrived two minutes later when Coultas, a former Great Britain squad player and Scottish international, fired the ball home from Grange’s first penalty corner award of the game.

The students recovered well from the early setback at the start of the second-half and pressed.

They were rewarded after 18 minutes as Ben Pearson deflected the ball home following their third penalty corner during a period of sustained pressure.

And Jack Jamieson scored after 25 minutes, collecting the ball and firing home on the turn from the left side of the D with Grange down to ten men as captain Cammy Fraser had been carded for dissent.
