Hibernian Football Club established the Hibernian Community Foundation in 2008 as a registered Scottish charity to harness the power of football to improve the lives of disadvantaged people and communities across Edinburgh and the Lothians.

Now in it’s tenth anniversary year, the Foundation is continuing to reach out and deliver programmes to those most in need.

In order for our Foundation to continue this very important and much-needed work it is launching the ‘Famous Fiver’ appeal, which evokes a golden era in the club’s history.

The target for the appeal if £25,000 and the Foundation hope that supporters will rise to this challenge as they have done so often in the past.

The Foundation will use every penny raised to affect positive change in communities and people of all ages.

The minimum donation is the ‘Famous Fiver’ but Hibs  hope, if they can, that people will donate more.

For example: £5 will help provide a bowl of fruit for a classroom of children in a deprived community as part of a programme. £10 will buy a ball to allow us to increase participation in football and sport. £25 would fund an employability session for young adults. £50 would provide a hot meal for 12 children attending our after-school programme. Hibernian Football Club and the Hibernian Community Foundation are working together to improve people’s lives.

By donating you’ll also be entered into prize draws.

£5 will give you the chance to win a signed ball. £10 for a chance at winning a tour of the Hibernian Training Centre. £25 and you could have lunch with the players. £50-plus and you could win the chance at four boardroom tickets for a game.

First-team star Lewis Stevenson was on hand to help with the launch and said: “I know first-hand the great work the Community Foundation does in deprived communities across Edinburgh and I would ask everyone who can to donate to the Famous Fiver appeal.”
