Hibs cruised through to the fifth round of the Scottish Cup with a comprehensive 4-0 victory over Elgin City at Easter Road this afternoon.

Neil Lennon’s side totally dominated throughout and could easily have won by a larger margin.

New signing Ryan Gauld started the game and was unlucky not to score with an early header before setting up Florian Kamberi for the opener in the 21st minute with a superb through ball.

The Swiss striker calmly rounded the Elgin keeper before sliding the ball into the empty net.

Darly Horgan added a second four minutes later with a brave header from Vykintas Slivka’s cross.

Hibs should have wrapped things up moments later but Elgin keeper Ian McHale saved Kamberi’s spot kick awarded for a foul on Steven Whittaker.

Just before the break Kamberi was brought down inside the area and this time Stevie Mallan made no mistake to make the score 3-0 at half time.

Horgan made it 4-0 from close range in the 53rd minute after a fine cross from Whittaker.

Kamberi and Gauld were replaced by Oli Shaw and Fraser Murray and both left the field to standing ovations and handshakes from Head Coach Lennon.

Shaw missed a glorious chance to make it 5-0 after good work from Horgan but his shot from eight yards was well saved.

With ten minutes remaining, Adam Bogdan was injured diving at the feet of an Elgin striker and was replaced by Ofir Mariano.

The draw for the next round takes place tomorrow after the Hearts v Livingston tie.
