Joel Gautschi was Murrayfield Racers man of the match as the Capital combine mauled Dundee Tigers 14-1 on Tayside.

The visitors were 2-1 ahead after the first 20 minutes and they extended that to 8-1 by the end of the middle session.

Six more goals hit the Tigers net for Tony Hand’s men in the final stanza.

Elsewhere, Fife Flyers were cut down 6-2 by Sheffield Steelers who propped up the Elite League table earlier this season before a change of coach.

The damage was done by a second-period slump in which Steelers scored four goals with only one in reply.

Dundee Stars losing streak continued when they skidded to a 5-2 reverse at Coventry Blaze after shipping three goals in the last eight minutes.

It was Dundee’s fourth straight defeat and it came despite an opening goal from Francois Bouchard after 13 minutes.

In Glasgow, Clan hit four goals between the 29th and 41st minute to take control against bottom club Milton Keynes Lightning.

Josh Gratton and Matt Beca both scored doubles in the welcome 6-3 win which snapped a two-game losing run.
