At last week’s council meeting the council’s Vice-Convener of Culture and Communities asked the Lord Provost and the other councillors to join her in recognising the Hibs’ Ladies team and their recent achievements.

Councillor Amy McNeese-Mechan explained that the team had recently beaten Motherwell Ladies 8-0 and described the win as inspirational. She also asked that the council recognised their ‘historic achievement of securing a ‘treble double’, having also won the Scottish Women’s Premier League Cup for 2018 for the third year in a row.’

The Hibernian Ladies team won the SSE Scottish Women’s Cup for the third year in a row and they won the Scottish Women’s Premier League Cup making it the treble double.

Cllr Wilson seconded the motion formally.

In the match report posted on the Hibs Ladies site here, the goal scorers were confirmed as Abi Harrison, Jamie-Lee Napier, Cailin Michie, Lauren Davidson and finally an own goal. Cailin Michie was named Player of the Year at the recent awards.

The Scottish Women’s Football official channel interviewed the Hibs ladies captain Joelle Murray about the new trophy ahead of the match played at Firrhill Park on 4 November 2018.
