Cailin Michie and Rachel McLauchlan won the Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year awards at Hibernian’s end of season awards.

The event was held in a packed-out Almond Suite in the Famous Five Stand at Easter Road Stadium and was hosted by Barrie Wilkins, who was joined at the front of the room by first team Head Coach Grant Scott and his assistant Stewart McGuire.

Starting with the Player of the Year, Scott introduced Michie, saying, “It was a very close vote, in both categories, but winning the coaches Player of the Year is a player who we feel, each and every week, has gotten stronger and stronger.

“Performance wise, she’s been an 8, 9, 10 every game. We’re delighted with her progress and she’s secured herself a place in the team this year. That award goes to Cailin Michie.”

After being handed the award, the defender said, “I’m really pleased to have been able to contribute something to the team this year and be in amongst these players again.”

Moving onto the Players’ Player of the Year, which is decided by a vote from the whole squad, Scott said, “Again the vote was very close with one single vote deciding this one. Her performances have been fantastic this season, probably most memorably in the Scottish Cup Final, so the Players’ Player of the Year goes to Rachel McLauchlan.”

Being asked for a few words, Hibernian’s No. 7 said, “This is one of the strongest teams we’ve ever had. The girls are so tight together, I love them to pieces.”
