Kyle Howarth snatched a dramatic victory in Berwick’s season-closing Bordernapolis individual at Shielfield Park.

Home star David Howe looked set to take top prize when he shot between former Edinburgh Monarchs riders Howarth and Matthew Wethers off the second bend to lead the final.

But Howarth’s pressure paid off and he overhauled Howe with yards to go leaving Howe and Wethers to complete the rostrum finishers with ex-Edinburgh skipper Sam Masters fourth.

Berwick promoter Scott Courtney said: “This has been a great end to a great season where the guys have just ridden out of their skins with passion and desire to get success for this club and its supporters.

“All I want to say is thank you to everyone who has played a part, it’s what makes this club so special.”
