Scott Martin has left Hibs to join Hamilton Academical on a two year deal.

The 21-year-old midfielder progressed through the Hibernian Academy, which he joined in 2007, and went on to make 15 appearances for the senior side – earning his debut in a league match against Falkirk in December 2014 – scoring one goal in the process.

The former Scotland under-19 international also starred in two loan spells to clubs in the third tier with Forfar Athletic and Arbroath. After joining the Gayfield club in November last year he went on to make a positive impression and won the club’s Young Player of the Year Award.

A statement on the club website reads: “Everyone at the Club wishes Scott all the best for his future career in the game.”

Hamilton manager Martin Canning told the club website: ‘’Scott is an all action, energetic midfield player. His playing style, coupled with the type of character he is, makes him a good fit for the club.’’

‘’He had an excellent season last year – winning the young player of the year award whilst on loan at Arbroath and winning the Scottish Youth Cup with Hibs.’

‘’We’ve got a healthy mix of options in the middle of the park now. There’s real competition for places which can only be beneficial to the team.’’
