Enter this photography competition with Edinburgh’s Living Landscapes

New and experienced photographers are all encouraged to snap their experiences with Edinburgh’s ‘Living Landscapes’ for a chance to win.

The term refers to the city’s ‘network for nature’ and encompasses everything from wildlife in window-boxes to street trees, local parks or allotments as well as wildflower and grass meadows. So get out, take some photos and send them in to have a chance of winning the competition.

Established four years ago, Edinburgh Living Landscape aims to expand and improve existing green networks, connecting those who live in Edinburgh with nature and linking a healthy environment, a healthy economy and people’s wellbeing.

Transport and Environment Vice-Convener, Councillor Karen Doran, said: “It’s no secret that we love our parks here in Edinburgh but Living Landscapes is about so much more.

“We want to integrate nature into every aspect of life in the city, whether it’s in your communal back green or amongst the rows of trees in your street, increasing biodiversity and creating healthier ecosystems.

“Now we’d love to see how you’ve been interacting with our wonderful living landscapes and we hope this competition will provide a snapshot of the many wild and green parts of the city known and loved by residents.”

Photographs should be entered by Friday, 12 October for the chance to win a variety of prizes, including high street gift vouchers to the value of £100.

You can enter by following Edinburgh Outdoors on Instagram and posting photos with the hashtag #eophotocomp  and you can also enter by sharing pictures on the Edinburgh Outdoors Facebook page, on Twitter, tagging @EdinOutdoors, or by emailing it to parks@edinburgh.gov.uk

Photographs submitted should include the location and if they are sent by email then resize them smaller than 500KB.

You are allowed up to five entries and photos will be judged by the Council’s parks department, with the top 15 entries posted to Edinburgh Outdoors’ Instagram and Facebook pages for a public vote. Photographs with the most likes will win.

THE SMALL PRINT

• Please only submit your own original photographs, and ensure you do not infringe on the rights of others when you are taking them. You must have permission from any people featured in your entries, or of parents/guardians if children under 16 are featured.
• By entering the competition, you are granting City of Edinburgh Council, and Edinburgh Living Landscape partners, permission to reproduce any entries at no fee for the Edinburgh Living Landscape programme, Edinburgh Outdoors website and any other future promotional material.
