Hearts Assistant Manager Austin MacPhee has turned down an offer from an Indian Super League club Pune City to become their manager. After discussing the matter with Hearts Head Coach Craig Levein and owner Ann Budge, MacPhee, 38, has decided to remain in Gorgie.

MacPhee, who was appointed as assistant to Ian Cathro in December 2016, told the official Hearts website:

It was an interesting offer from the Indian Super League side and one I thought very seriously about.

“However, at this moment in time it is probably not the right opportunity for me and I am delighted to be continuing my work at Hearts.

“There is a lot to feel positive about as we head into the new season and I’m very much looking forward to the campaign ahead.”

Meanwhile, Hearts out-of-favour striker Conor Sammon has joined Motherwell on a season-long loan. The Irishman is in the final year of his contact at Tynecastle and is unlikely to play for the Maroons again.
