An investigation is underway to establish the cause of a large fire on at Edinburgh golf course.

More than 30 firefighters were called to Mortonhall Golf Course in Edinburgh shortly after 11.20pm last night.

Smoke could be seen for miles as gorse bushes burned on Braid Hills.

Six appliances tackled the blaze while investigations are currently being carried out.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said: “We are not yet sure on the cause of the fire so we don’t know if it’s suspicious yet.

“An investigation will be carried out.”
