Hibs continued their pre-season campaign with a comprehensive 6-0 victory over Berwick Rangers at Shielfield Park last night.

The big talking point ahead of kick off was the absence of John McGinn who has been linked with a move to Celtic although the Hibs number two Gary Parker insisted that he had been ‘rested’.

Neil Lennon also opted to rest Marvin Bartley, Flo Kamberi, and Darren McGregor and new signing Adam Bogdan made his debut in goals following his move from Liverpool.

after a bright start Hibs took the lead in the 13th minute when Oli Shaw capitalised on a mistake in the Berwick defence.

Simon Murray made it 2-0 after latching onto a pass from Vykintas Slivka.

David Gray then scored a spectacular volley from a tight angle to give the visitors a three-goal advantage at the break.

Ross Laidlaw and Martin Boyle replaced Bogdan and Gray respectively at half time.

Hibs continued in the same fashion and Steven Whittaker fired a half-volley low into the  net to make it 4-0.

Shaw grabbed his second from close range in the 76th minute and Lewis Allan made it 6-0 just before the final whistle.

Hibs now face Blackburn Rovers on Sunday in Paul Hanlon’s testimonial match.
