School uniforms being sorted

Edinburgh School Uniform Bank, a charity which provides school uniforms for financially disadvantaged children in Edinburgh, has been awarded £1,000 by the Aviva Community Fund.

The organisation is one of over 590 organisations and charities which have been given funding. The 16-strong group was set up in 2015 to provide school uniforms and academic supplies for more than 300 financially disadvantaged children in the Edinburgh area.

The funding will be spent on maintaining the day-to-day activities of the group and for storage.

Linda Russell, group spokesman, said: “We aim to continue to grow and help youngsters walk into school not standing out from the crowd because of their uniform.”
