The Scottish SPCA is appealing for information after a dog was discovered attached to a dog loop outside a convenience store in Dunbar.

Scotland’s animal welfare charity was alerted after the female saluki cross breed, was found tied up on the High Street at around 5pm on Sunday (19 November).

Inspector Alastair Adams said, “Whilst the dog is in good condition, she has a small lesion on her leg and has no microchip.

“A man wearing a woolly hat, fleece top and welly boots was seen tying up the dog, entering the shop and leaving soon after walking right by the dog.

“She is currently being cared for at our rescue and rehoming centre in Lanarkshire where she has been named Sally.”

Abandoning an animal is an offence under the Animal Health and Welfare (Scotland) Act 2006. Anyone found guilty of doing so can expect to be banned from keeping animals for a fixed period or life.

Anyone who recognises Sally or has information is being urged to contact the Scottish SPCA Animal Helpline on 03000 999 999.
