With only one month to go, RZSS Edinburgh Zoo has begun the countdown to its winter extravaganza, The Giant Lanterns of China, which begins on 1 December for 50 awe-inspiring nights.

From cheeky chimpanzees to colourful peacocks, gigantic lanterns have begun to appear in locations throughout the Zoo in preparation for what will be 34 spectacular installations made up of over 450 colossal lanterns.

A team of 25 craftspeople from Sichaun Province in China have made the 5,000-mile journey to Scotland’s capital to begin the final construction of the lanterns, which will transform the Zoo into a light spectacle for 50 nights throughout winter.

Tickets for The Giant Lanterns of China are priced from £17.50 per adult and available at: edinburghzoo.org.uk/lanterns
