Kenny Bain drives for goal during Scotland’s big win over Portugal in Glasgow

Scotland thrashed Portugal 6-1 win over Portugal in the men’s EuroHockey Championship II in Glasgow to qualifiy for the semi-final.

And it took Scotland, who beat France in their opening game of the tournament, only 28 seconds to find the net, Lee Morton firing home from a tight angle.

Portugal shocked the home side with an equaliser in the second quarter, Luis Taveres slotting home from close-range.

Scotland quickly responded and Kenny Bain scored to restore the lead, the Dutch-bases striker surging into the D and used Gordon McIntyre as a decoy before sliding the ball under the goalkeeper.

Alan Forsyth slotted a penalty stroke to make it 3-1 and after the break Scotland continued to dominate.

Forsyth produced a slick finish to make it 4-1 and the Surbiton player claimed his hat-trick in the fourth quarter.

Gavin Byers (Grove Menzieshill) started the move finding Edinburgh University star Jamie Wong who fed Forsyth. He scored from close range.

Former Kelburne star Morton completed the scoring late on and now the Scots face Ukraine in their final Pool A match.
