Chris Grassick makes his long-awaited comeback for Scotland in the World League later this month in London.

The Edinburgh-born former Inverleith player has been sidelined for almost a year with a cruciate ligament injury.

And he is named with thee other Surbiton team-mates in the line-up for the semi-Final in London from 15 to 25 June.

Grassick has to sit on the sidelines as he worked on his extensive rehabilitation on the injury suffered playing for Great Britain as Scotland’s men’s squad defied all the odds to reach this stage.

Now, their first outing will be against India in Pool B on June 15 before taking on The Netherlands, Pakistan and Canada for places in the latter stages of the tournament. Pool A sees Argentina, Korea, England, China, and Malaysia drawn together.

Coach Derek Forsyth takes charge of the lowest-ranked team in the tournament and Scotland are the rank underdogs in London.

However, hopes are high that former Bromac Kelburne star Alan Forsyth (Surbiton) can find the goal-scoring form which helped Great Britain win the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup in Malaysia.

He scored four goals and was voted Man of the Match in the final and he is joined in the squad by Dutch-based Kenny Bain and David Forsyth, Alan’s older brother, and Michael Bremner who plays in Germany.

Coach Forsyth said: “We’re playing in London against some of the best teams in the world.

“It will be a huge challenge but everyone has worked exceptionally hard to get to this tournament, and the effort from the players over the last few weeks has made selection difficult.”

Scotland squad: Wei Adams (Dusseldorf), Tommy Alexander, Tim Atkins, Lee Morton (Reading), Russell Anderson (Cannock), Kenny Bain (HGC), Michael Bremner (Klipper), Gavin Byers (Grove Menzieshill), Callum Duke (Hillhead), David Forrester, Jamie Wong (Edinburgh University), Alan Forsyth, Chris Grassick, Willie Marshall, Nick Parkes (Surbiton), David Forsyth (Qui Vive), Ed Greaves (Loughborough University), Gordon McIntyre (Wimbledon)
