Elite League: Fife Flyers 4, Edinburgh Capitals 5; Sheffield Steelers 5, Dundee Stars 4; Braehead Clan 4, Belfast Giants 5

Edinburgh Capitals claimed their second straight win in 24-hours by coming from 4-3 down to snatch a 5-4 victory at arch rivals Fife Flyers in a thriller at Kirkcaldy.

Player/coach Michal Dobron, who guided his side to a 4-3 penalty shots success at Dundee Stars on Friday, proved the hero when he levelled the game at 4-4 with less than six minutes remaining.

And the Czech Republic defenceman slotted after 69 seconds of the overtime period on the power play to claim a valuable two points.

Fife fans were left stunned but earlier Ian Schultz opened the scoring with a short-handed, unassisted goal for Capitals after 12 minutes.

Chase Schaber levelled two minutes later but Taylor MacDougall put the visitors ahead for a second time two minutes after that.

The see-saw game exploded again when Fife levelled in the 22nd minute from Carlo Finucci but Karel Hromas netted Capitals’ third after 30 minutes.

Seb Thinel after 41 minutes and Mathew Sisca in the 51st minutes scored, both on the power play, to put Fife ahead for the first time.

Dobron was not to be denied and his first came in 54 minutes before he ended the contest early in the extra period.

Fifth-placed Braehead Clan’s hopes of a home victory over second-top Belfast Giants were dashed by a Michael Forney game-winner less than five minutes from time after the sides were locked at 4-4 in Glasgow.

Second-bottom Dundee let slip a 3-2 lead to go down 5-4 at third-placed Sheffield Steelers with Levi Nelson snatching the winner with eight minutes remaining.

Cale Tenaka missed a penalty shot for Dundee with the scoreline at 2-1 against the Scots.
