ICE HOCKEY: Elite League: Dundee Stars 6, Edinburgh Capitals 0
MATT White and Justin Faryna both hit doubles as Dundee Stars shot down Edinburgh Capitals 6-0 on Tayside in a penalty-filled game.
Brett Switzer and Mikael Lidhammar also netted in the shutout which snapped a depressing six-game losing streak.
Stars, who lost 3-2 in Edinburgh on Saturday, outshot their rivals 33-27 last night and the key to the game was a 5-0 second-period scoreline.
The sides blanked the first session 0-0 but Lidhammar broke the deadline after 26 seconds of the middle period.
Nine minutes later Switzer added his name to the scoresheet and then three power play goals hit the Capitals rigging.
White converted after 31 and 34 minutes and Faryna slotted home in 36 minutes.
Faryna completed the scoring after 46 minutes to lift the spirits of the home side after a torrid few weeks.
