Catalog Ltd was launched in April 2012 by husband and wife team, Dixie and Ralf, to bring the very best of European Design to Edinburgh.
Dixie is an interior designer and Ralf trained as a product designer who then went on to teaching at schools in the UK and abroad. His last job was at Dollar Academy. They met and fell in love in Bahrain and decided to come to Scotland to settle in 2007.
After a spell working at In-house on Howe Street until it closed in early 2012, they then decided that they would take a leap of faith and open their own showroom.
After the closure of several of Edinburgh’s most loved and long-standing design stores, the couple felt that they wanted to create a new haven for contemporary design in Scotland.
Having searched for a location for several months, they were lucky enough to find a charming, light filled showroom on the city’s historic St Stephen Street.
Catalog’s collection features design classics alongside the very latest contemporary pieces. Furniture and Lighting from Italy, Spain and Germany appears alongside rugs from France and Denmark and textiles from Scandinavia and the Isle of Bute. Their qualified team are on hand with friendly interior design advice.
This year, for the first time, they have curated a dedicated Christmas gift selection with half of the showroom filled with wonderful gift ideas, design books, cards, wrap and luxurious ribbons.
Glass, tableware and objects from Scandinavia and Italy are complemented by contemporary Scottish cashmere and stunningly packaged chocolates from Edinburgh based chocolatiers Ocelot.
