main_rnli_banner-gifThe Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) are making it possible for you to write your new will for ‘free’ during Free Wills Month this October.

This scheme allows you to instruct a participating firm of solicitors to write your will for you and, if you wish, include a gift to a charity.

It is clear that the RNLI hope you might consider them to allow it to continue its vital service funded solely by donations and provided by volunteers.

Gary Crowe, volunteer lifeboat crew member at Dunbar Lifeboat Station, said: ‘The RNLI has helped those in peril at sea since 1824. No one knows what the future holds, but we do know the sea will always be dangerously unpredictable. Our help will always be needed and we’ll always need to safeguard our courageous volunteer crew and lifeguards. With six out of every ten RNLI lifeboat launches only made possible due to gifts left to the RNLI in Wills, every donation however big or small really does help to save lives.’

‘I’m so grateful to everyone who leaves a gift to the RNLI in their Will. Volunteer lifeboat crew members like me can confidently and safely go out and save lives at sea thanks to the generosity of the public – we really do rely on your support.’

Participants are not obliged to leave a gift to the RNLI when they make or update their Will using the Free Wills Month service, but the charity hopes that people will consider doing so.
